Den Helder

There is always a lot to see and do in Den Helder. Markets, festivals, street theatre, major events; you name it, we have it. Annual events like the circus, Den Helder’s jazz weekend, the Karavaan drama festival, the Strandspektakel (beach spectacle) and the Nationale Vlootdagen (national Royal Dutch Navy event) attract visitors from far beyond our provincial borders.

Because of the maritime character of Den Helder, our city has attracted new residents from all over the world for centuries. The historical ties of the Netherlands with exotic overseas countries is reflected by a large Indonesian, West Indian and Surinamese community with associated events such as Pasar Malam and Caribbean or Tropical Parties.
